A 501©3 non-profit organization, it produces professional stage, film and audio productions centered on various aspects of American history. The Manteo-based company also promotes scholarly research, theatrical interpretations of history, and symposia and seminars. Additionally, the company produces special educational programs for and with students. In the fall of 1999, the company produced the new musical drama, The Colony That Was Lost, for and with the students of Manteo Elementary School. In January of 2002 the company will reprise the show with First Flight Elementary School children. The company's main production is their international hit one-woman show Elizabeth R. During the summer, the production plays at The Elizabethan gardens. Since 1993,Elizabeth R
has been performed to rave reviews at the Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, The Elizabethan Gardens, and on tour in England, Scotland's Edinburgh Festival, the Players Club Theatre in New York City and at 30 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic states.
